(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – The City Council and city staff will host their annual budget retreat Friday to begin developing a framework for the city’s 2014 budget.
The retreat is open to the public and begins at 4 p.m. at the Municipal Center, 200 S. Holden St.
Council members will review information provided by city staff to determine budget priorities and offer direction in building a budget for the next fiscal year, according to a news release.
City Manager Paula Hertwig Hopkins will provide an overview of the FY13 strategic plan and action steps followed with the proposed FY14 strategic plan, according to the news release.
Kelvin Shaw, director of finance, will discuss the city’s current financial status before preliminary FY14 budget guidelines are proposed.
City staff will present accomplishments and efficiencies from FY13 and provide updates on the status of capital improvement projects projected for FY14-18.
The next step in the budget process is compiling the data and priorities set during the budget retreat. The council will then have a budget presentation in the coming months.
