Sustainability, technology, fracking and environmental awareness will be among the topics of discussion at the 2015 Teach-In on Sustainable Solutions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, in the University of Central Missouri’s Elliott Student Union. The event, sponsored by UCM’s Office of Sustainability, will feature professionals and representatives of organizations concerned with environmental sustainability. The keynote speaker is Mary Lewis, supply chain professional for Sprint, who will talk about businesses “greening” their supply chains and corporate responsibility. The topics to be discussed during the event include use of solar energy for the home; sustainable use of glass in the home and marketplace; community involvement in sustainable solutions; sustainable choices in fashion; sustainable solutions in correctional facilities; recycling, composting and green purchasing as sustainable solutions; and the connection between sustainability and the foods we consume. For more information, visit ucmo.edu/teachin or contact Katie Bredeson with the UCM Office of Sustainability at 660-543-8733.
