Crest Ridge beats Kingsville 65-16

Crest Ridge opened the basketball season with a crushing 65-16 win over Kingsville Tuesday.

“Our first game of the year so it’s always good to start off with a win,” said Crest Ridge coach Heath Heckadon. “Kingsville is a very young ball team and they will improve. Coach Shippy is doing a good job with them. I thought our defense intensity was outstanding and it has to stay there for every game. We had four players in double figures and shared the ball well. We need to continue working on our rebounding and continue to take care of the ball.”

Crest Ridge led 38-11 at the half. Hayden Stringer had 10 points, 10 assists and six rebounds for Crest Ridge. Taylor Nagel had 13 points and six rebounds. Garrett Hoeper netted 11 points and had three assists. Cole Heckadon had 11 points and six steals. Austin Bestgen had eight points and four assists. Noah McCune had six points and three steals.

Crest Ridge was 6 for 9 from the free-throw line and 7 for 19 from the perimeter.
