Esther “Kay” Langston

Dr. Esther “Kay” Langston, age 66, of Warrensburg, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the First Assembly of God Church at 240 NW 13 Highway, Warrensburg, with Pastor Roberta Crane Fitch officiating.

A private interment will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Assembly of God Church and can be left in care of the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Mo.

Kay was born July 23, 1947, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of David and Maxine (Elliott) Mullen.

In August 1973, she married Charles Leroy Allen in Adrian, Mo.  He preceded her in death in March 1997.  Then on January 21, 2006, she was united in marriage to Alvin Langston in Platte City, Mo.

Kay was a graduate of Richwoods High School in Peoria, IL, class of 1965.  She then attended and received her Bachelor’s degree from Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo.  In 2006, Kay attended and received her Doctorate degree from Faith Bible College in Independence, Mo.  Kay was the pastor for 25 years at Son Light Assembly of God Church in Platte City, Mo..  She was faithful in attending church her whole life, working in the Lord’s house doing his service.  Kay was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Warrensburg.  She loved her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Al; one son, John Mark Allen and wife Oshiana in Warrensburg; two daughters, Deborah Faith Morgan and husband Jason of Canon City, Colo., and Rebekah Hope Adams and husband Brett of Yuma, Ariz.; two step-daughters, Tracy Mechelle Griffin and husband Paul of Springfield, Mo., and Cynthia Denise Mattix and husband James of Covina, Calif.; two sisters, Elizabeth Gooding of Platte City, Mo., and Wendy Crotts of Springfield, Mo.; her mother, Maxine Marshall of Platte City, Mo.; 18 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Kay was also preceded in death by her father David Mullen.
