Florence Nadine Hemme

Florence Nadine Hemme, 84, of Warrensburg, died Nov. 8, at Country Club Care Center.

Nadine, as she was known, was born on Nov. 26, 1933, in Macon, Missouri. She was a seamstress and worked for Unitog for over 20 years. She was an expert at making clothes and quilts for her family members. Holidays were very important for Nadine, and she pulled out all the stops for the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Her family always looked forward to her pecan pie, Christmas candies, and oyster casserole. As a woman of faith, she was a longtime member of Grover Park Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her giving spirit and being willing to do anything for anybody.

Nadine is survived by her daughter, Helen Yancey of Centerview; granddaughters, Crissy Kauffman of Holden and Stacy Heckadon (husband, Heath) of Hume; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Kauffman, Karsen Kauffman, Tucker Kauffman, Riley Heckadon and Baylee Heckadon; two sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Smith; second husband, Burdett Hemme; son, Johnny Lee Smith; son-in-law, Phil Yancey; and her mother, father and two brothers.

Family received friends from 2-3 p.m. on Nov. 13, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. A graveside service followed the visitation at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens with Dr. Randall S. Neal officiating. Pallbearers were Karsen Kauffman, Riley Heckadon and Heath Heckadon.
