Lowell “Bud” Love

Lowell “Bud” Love, 90, of Warrensburg, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Country Club Care Center.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with the Rev. Charles Brant officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery with military graveside honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2513 and American Legion, Post 131. Pallbearers will be American Legion Riders: Chris Postlethwait, David Mudd, Fred Niblock, Gene Reed, Ed Hufford and Mel Cox.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Bud was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Rensselear, Ind., the son of C. M. and Golda (Eastes) Love. Following graduation from high school in Versailles, Mo., he worked for the Army Air Corp in Dayton, Ohio. Later, he joined the U. S. Navy. Bud went to boot camp in Farragut, Idaho. He went to Bremerton, Wash., to train crews for CVE aircraft carriers. At San Diego, Calif., he boarded the USS Bennington, where he was awarded the Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with three Bronze Stars and also Crewman Wings, the American Theater and good conduct medal. Bud married Elizabeth Harrison on Dec. 16, 1945, in Warrensburg. He owned and operated Love’s Studio in Warrensburg for 46 years.

He was a member of several organizations throughout the years including American Legion, Post 131, which recently awarded him the 70 Year Continuous Membership Award; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2513; and Elks Lodge, No. 673. He was also a member of the Masons, Corinthian Lodge, No. 265 AF & AM; Fort Osage Muzzle Loaders and The Rusty Zippers.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; two sons, Don Charles Love and Sandy Mulitsch of St. Louis, Mo.; and Kirt Harrison Love and wife, Susan, of Warrensburg; daughter, Anita Kay Love of Warrensburg; six grandchildren, Sarah Meisner and husband, Jared, of Springfield, Mo.; Edward Love and wife, Emily, of Fenwick, Mich.; Kaleb Love and wife, Tracy, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Dalton Ewing and wife, Carly, of Warrensburg; Wyatt Ewing of Warrensburg; and Jeff Truex and fiance, Melissa Bailey, of Columbia, Mo.; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Warrensburg Veterans Home or American Legion, Post 131 in care of the funeral home.
