UCM Gallery of Art and Design hosts Mid-Mo. Artists exhibit

The University of Central Missouri Gallery of Art and Design will host two exhibitions beginning May 18 and continuing through June 22.

In the Main Gallery, the Mid-Missouri Artists will present their annual exhibition. Members work in a variety of media, including photography, watercolor, pastels, printmaking and wood.

In the Outer Gallery – John Hess – author, photographer and UCM professor emeritus of biology, will present “The Weavers of Darwin’s Tapestry.” The exhibit features a selection of photographs from his book “The Galápagos: Exploring Darwin’s Tapestry,” which details the seven days he spent on the islands in 2006.

An Opening Reception in honor of both exhibitions is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23. The event is open to the public.

Summer hours for the UCM Gallery of Art and Design are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. It is located in the Art Center Building at 217 Clark St. in Warrensburg. Admission is free and groups may attend. For more information or directions call 660-543-4498.
