City hosts open house for comprehensive plan

January 9, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Warrensburg city officials are scheduled to host an open house to review the Comprehensive City Plan Update from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, in the Municipal Center at 200 S. Holden St.

There will be multiple stations to review and comment on the final draft of the Comprehensive City Plan Update prior to it being presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council for adoption. The event is open to the public but there will be no formal presentation.

The city’s current Comprehensive City Plan was adopted in 2007. The city hired Confluence, a professional consulting firm focused on planning and landscape architecture, to develop an update to supplement the existing 2007 Comprehensive City Plan, according to a news release.

The Comprehensive City Plan Update will be used in conjunction with other plans and studies as the foundation for decisions on land use, development and infrastructure investment. It will provide a guide for development over the next 20 years and serve as the basis for updating zoning and subdivision regulations, according to the news release.

A kickoff meeting for the project took place on May 2, 2016, and a public workshop took place on June 9, 2016. The Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council had two joint meetings to discuss the plan on July 20, 2016, and Dec. 12, 2016.
