The Arx Duo, a percussion chamber ensemble, will host a recital featuring UCM students on Thursday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m. in the Hart Recital Hall of the Utt Building.

The Arx Duo members, comprised of Kansas City-based percussionists, are Garret Arney and Mari Yoshinaga. They will visit UCM for a two-day residency to present the recital, give masterclasses, teach lessons, coach chamber ensembles, and socially interact with both UCM percussion and non-percussion students, according to a press release sent by Alex Smith, professor of percussion.

The Arx Duo is one of the most acclaimed percussion chamber ensembles in the world, having worked with renowned composers for percussion such as Alejandro Vinão, James Wood, and Ted Hearn, according to the press release.

In 2016, they were the artists in residence at Michigan State University and are currently on faculty at the Young Artist Summer Program at Curtis Summerfest and have also been feature artists on the Vic Firth “Performance Spotlight Series.”
