The Old Drum Open Mic show will take place from 6 to 8 Thursday evening, April 5 at Java Junction in downtown Warrensburg. The showcase series is free and open to the public. There is room for more performers to sign up.

Old Drum Open Mic is designed to provide a platform for area writers, composers, diarists, songwriters, poets, essayists, playwrights and comics to present their creative works in front of a local audience. The series is entering its 5th year of service, promoting creative efforts throughout the region.

ODOM presentation slots are capped at 15 minutes. Most presenters require only a fraction of that, allowing for others to participate.

Those already scheduled for the next show are Jessica Paxton with two poems, “Slam Poetry for my Recovering Heart” and “Where are you Elohim?” David Curtis will tell another story from his long, long hiking travails. Phil Wagner will present a couple of his favorite tunes, and Scott Umphrey has another observational piece in store.
