UCM totaled 102.5 points to place fifth. Grand View won the team title with 217.0 points.
Frank Cagnina captured the 149-pound championship with a 9-4 win over No. 1-ranked Ryan Maus of Truman State. Cagnina went 4-0 on the day registering a major decision, two falls and the decision in the championship bout.
Malacai Collins was runner-up at 125 pounds. He pinned Ernesto Escobar of Grand View in :57 in his first match and then majored Robert Boesch of Wartburg in the quarterfinals. He rallied from a 4-2 deficit to beat Tyler Endres of Coe College 6-4 in the semifinals before falling to Ryak Finch of Grand View in the finals.
Hunter Neighbors placed fifth at 133 pounds with a 3-2 record. He won his first two bouts be decision before falling 2-0 to Nick Shea of Truman State in the semifinals. He then dropped a 4-2 decision to Landon Shea of Wartburg in the consolation semis. He won by disqualification in the fifth-place match over Scottie Bonds of William Penn.
Ty Loethen finished sixth at 165 pounds. He lost to Brett Yonkovic of Wartburg 6-4 in sudden victory in his first match. He rebounded to win three straight matches, including a 17-1 tech fall over Ryan Donovan of Coe College and a pin in 2:09 over Michael Swank of Simpson. He dropped a 4-2 decision in the consolation semifinals and lost his rematch with Yonkovic 12-3 in the fifth-place match.
Nick Lovejoy was fourth at 197 pounds. He beat Zach Henaman of Wartburg 5-4 in his first match before falling to Helmut Rentschler of Truman State in his second match. He rebounded to beat Ben Weber of Wartburg 2-0 in the wrestlebacks and then pinned Jared Bevins of Simpson in 4:27 in the consolation semis. He fell to Rentschler for the second time, in the third place match.
The Mules are back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind.
