(WARRENSBURG, Muleskinner) — Chick-fil-A in the Elliott Student Union was robbed Saturday night after closing hours. Public Safety officers said suspects have not been identified, but they have a few leads.

“We’re just investigating leads right now and continuing to talk to people and do some other parts of the investigation,” said Detective Gary Schmidt, the Public Safety officer leading the case.

The suspects, described as two white males wearing black hooded sweatshirts and ski masks, forced Andy Lasater, a Chick-fil-A employee, at gunpoint to open a safe in the restaurant, and then took money from inside, according to a Public Safety report. The suspects arrived sometime between 10:38 and 10:45 p.m.

“We got notified at 10:50, so there’s a little break in the time frame there,” said Scott Rhoad, director of Public Safety. “We arrived on scene at 10:51 –so basically within a minute.”

Rhoad said they hadn’t located any witnesses yet as of Monday, but they are in the process of conducting interviews with anyone who might have been in the area.

“Nobody got hurt,” he said. “In fact, there were people in the seating area of Chick-fil-A. They never even knew anything happened.”

Rhoad said there is no video surveillance that is available for use in the investigation.

“It was before 11 o’clock on a Saturday, so there may have been people just wandering through the area, walking down Clark Street or Holden Street or whatever, we just weren’t able to identify to actually talk to,” Rhoad said. “So if anybody happened to be in the area that has any significant information or any information, please don’t hesitate to contact Public Safety.

“We will look at this from every angle we possibly can and hopefully we can get this tied up relatively soon.”
