(WEST PLAINS, Mo., AP) — Authorities have identified the man struck and killed by a freight train in southern Missouri as a 28-year-old Kentucky man.
The West Plains Daily (http://bit.ly/1MoqYIf) reports that John Meade was killed around 1:50 a.m. Saturday near a crossing.
West Plains police spokesman Nate Bean says the train’s engineer reported that the man’s legs were seen on the railroad tracks at the crossing. Crews sounded the train’s horn several times, but the victim did not get off the tracks.
Bean says the investigation is continuing.
