Man dies after driving into path of train in Missouri

(PILOT KNOB, Mo., AP) — A man has died after driving into the path of an Amtrak train in southeast Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as 62-year-old Clarence G. Wisdom, of Middlebrook. He died Monday morning about two miles north of the Iron County town of Pilot Knob after failing to yield to an oncoming train. Wisdom was driving a pickup truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The patrol says the crossing has a yield and railroad sign but no other warning device.
