But with that 76-year-old Kingshighway bridge now set to be torn down, the skateboarders are getting a city-authorized park.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1JjrmIe) reports that they formed a nonprofit and began looking three years ago for a permanent place to skateboard. A grand opening for the new skate park is set for June 21.

The old bridge is expected to close July 6 for demolition. A new span is planned to take its place as part of a $21 million project.

For now though, skateboarders have two parks that are two miles apart.
