(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — Candidate filing for two positions on the Warrensburg City Council will open Tuesday, Dec. 15, according to a news release from the city clerk.

Candidates can file in the office of City Clerk Cindy Gabel in the Municipal Building, located at 102A S. Holden St., through Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016. Office hours are 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2016.

Councilmembers Charlie Rutt and Donna DeFrain have three-year terms that will expire in 2016. Rutt has served for two terms and is not eligible to file due to term limits. DeFrain has served one term and is eligible to file again.

On the first day of filing, if more than one candidate is present at 8 a.m. Dec. 15, the city clerk will determine by random drawing the order in which candidates’ names shall appear on the ballot, according to the news release. If a drawing is conducted, the number drawn will be recorded in ascending order of the numbers drawn on the ballot.
