Dorothy N. DeVasher

Dorothy N. DeVasher, 83, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Sunday, Oct. 25, at Western Missouri Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Pastor Richard Colliver officiating. Pallbearers will be Dustin DeVasher, Amber Self, Catherine Williams, Fred House, Christinia Holtzen, Chuck Nixon and Cody Nelson.

Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home.

She was born July 22, 1932, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of Bob and Ruby Idell (Oliver) Neal.

She was united in marriage to Howard H. DeVasher on April 21, 1957, in Hot Springs. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1991.

Dorothy graduated from Saint Luke’s School of Nursing in 1971 with an LPN degree. She then worked at Western Missouri Medical Center for 25 years and retired in 1996. Dorothy shared her love of travel with her husband and their children. She had traveled extensively in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Russia. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Warrensburg.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Neal DeVasher, and wife, Terri, of Warrensburg; two daughters, Jean DeVasher, of Rock Island, Illinois; and Clara Williams and husband, Jonathan, of Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers, Floyd Neal, of Tucson, Arizona; and Bobby Neal, of Warrensburg; five grandchildren, Dustin, Amber, Catherine, Fred and Christinia; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ellie Neal.

 

Memorial contributions are suggested to the National Alzheimer’s Association and can be left at the funeral home.
