Dorothy M. Preston 88, of Kingsville, Missouri, died March 30, 2016, at Country Club Care Center, Warrensburg, Missouri.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 4, at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial is at Holden Cemetery.

She was born to Joe and Cora (Epple) Hobbs on April 16, 1927, in Peculiar, Missouri. She graduated from Kingsville High School. She married David G. Preston on Jan. 20, 1945, and he preceded her in death Dec. 2, 1984. She retired from AT&T after 27 years, as a Lead Supervisor. Dorothy was a member of the Pioneers, DAR and the Holden Garden Club. Dorothy and her sisters were well known for their beautiful flower gardens. She was very active in the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church until her stroke in 2011.

She is survived by a son David W. Preston and wife Lavonne of Holden, Missouri; and three grandchildren; Christi Allen Warrensburg, Missouri, Eric Preston Kingsville, Missouri, and Jason Preston and wife Tonya of Harrisonville, Missouri; four great-grandchildren; Adam Preston Dylan Allen, Jared Allen, Kaitlin Fifer and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by three sisters; Luevina Wallace, Rosie Bailey, and Betty Brillhart and husband Melvin.

Preceding her in death were a brother, Neil Hobbs; three sisters, Barbara Hobbs, Nadine Higgins, and Virginia Dyer.
