ICE says subject of manhunt was in US illegally

(KANSAS CITY, Kan., AP) — The Latest on the manhunt for a man suspected in five fatal shootings in Kansas and Missouri (all times local):

10:45 p.m.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says a man who is the focus of a Missouri manhunt after five fatal shootings is a Mexican national who was in the country illegally.

The agency said in a statement Tuesday night that Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino had been previously deported from the U.S. in April 2004. ICE says he illegally re-entered the country on an unknown date.

Serrano-Vitorino has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connection with a quadruple homicide in Kansas City, Kansas. He’s also being sought in Montgomery County, Missouri, where he is a suspect in the shooting death of 49-year-old Randy Nordman. Nordman’s body was found Tuesday at his rural home near where the suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned on Interstate 70.

ICE says it will place a detainer on Serrano-Vitorino if he is taken into custody.

A Kansas man who is the focus of a Missouri manhunt has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connection with a quadruple homicide in Kansas City, Kansas.

Wyandotte County, Kansas, District Attorney Jerome Gorman announced Tuesday that charges had been filed against Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino of Kansas City, Kansas. He’s accused of fatally shooting four men late Monday night at his neighbor’s home.

He’s also being sought in Montgomery County, Missouri, where he is a suspect in the shooting death of 49-year-old Randy Nordman. Nordman’s body was found Tuesday at his rural home near where the suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned on Interstate 70.

Gorman’s office lists Serrano-Vitorino’s age as 40, while Kansas City, Kansas, police say he’s 36.

A woman who knew one of four men who were fatally shot in a Kansas home says he always went out his way to help neighbors, including her mother.

Investigators haven’t released the names of the four men killed Monday night in Kansas City, Kansas. Authorities also haven’t said what may have led to the shooting, but say they’re searching for a neighbor, 36-year-old Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino, as a suspect.

Audrey Ragan of Kansas City, Missouri, says her mother lives across the street from one of the victims and that she’d known the family for five or six years. Ragan says the man was married with a 2-year-old daughter and was always doing things for neighbors. Ragan says she saw him Monday and, as usual, he waved and smiled.

She was visiting her mother Tuesday morning and went to talk to the victim’s wife to offer condolences. Ragan says she was in shock, saying the man is “going to be truly, truly missed.”

A neighbor of a central Missouri man killed during a shooting that authorities say may be linked to a quadruple slaying in Kansas says the death is tragic.

Missouri authorities say sheriff’s deputies responding to a reported shooting Tuesday morning at a rural Montgomery County home found the body of 49-year-old Randy J. Nordman.

His closest neighbor, Genevieve Kelly, says she didn’t know anything had happened until she saw helicopters circling overhead. She says she didn’t know Nordman well, but that she would occasionally help him with sewing.

She noted that only one vehicle was parked outside Nordman’s home Tuesday, while several were parked outside hers.

Investigators believe that a truck found earlier Tuesday about five miles from Nordman’s home had been abandoned by 36-year-old Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino, who also is suspected in the Monday night shooting of four men at his neighbor’s house in Kansas City, Kansas.

Investigators have identified a central Missouri man who authorities say may have been killed by a suspect in a Kansas quadruple slaying.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says sheriff’s deputies responding to a reported shooting Tuesday morning at a rural home found the body of 49-year-old Randy J. Nordman. Authorities say Nordman lived at the Montgomery County property.

The patrol says the suspect in the shooting is 36-year-old Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino, who also is suspected of killing four men Monday night at his neighbor’s house in Kansas City, Kansas.

The patrol says the truck Serrano-Vitorino is believed to have been driving was found abandoned about five miles from Nordman’s home. The patrol says a witness reported seeing a man running away from Nordman’s property, but investigators haven’t releasing further details.

The search is ongoing in central Missouri for Serrano-Vitorino. Investigators say he may be armed and should be considered dangerous.

Investigators say a man suspected of killing four people at his neighbor’s home in Kansas is now suspected of killing a man in Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says two helicopters and dozens of officers are searching for 36-year-old Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino. The patrol says Serrano-Vitorino should be considered dangerous and may be armed with an AK-47.

Authorities say four men were shot Monday night at the house in Kansas City, Kansas. Serrano-Vitorino’s truck was found Tuesday morning about 170 miles away along Interstate 70 in central Missouri.

The patrol says a 49-year-old man was found fatally shot in a rural home about five miles away near New Florence, and a witness reported seeing a man running from the property. Several schools were put on lockdown.

Authorities say a pickup truck linked to a man they now consider a suspect in a quadruple homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, has been found abandoned about 170 miles away in central Missouri.

Police said in a news release Tuesday that the vehicle was discovered on the shoulder of Interstate 70 in Montgomery County, Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is searching the area for the suspect. Police said the suspect was thought to be driving the truck after the Monday night shootings, which occurred at a neighbor’s home.

Three men were found dead at the home, and the fourth victim died at a hospital. Their names weren’t immediately released.

Police Officer Thomas Tomasic says one of the men managed to call police before he died. Tomasic said he didn’t know how the men knew one another or what prompted the shooting.

Police are looking for a 36-year-old man after four people were fatally shot in Kansas City, Kansas.

Police say the shooting happened late Monday. Three men were found dead at the scene, and the fourth victim died at a hospital. Their names weren’t immediately released.

A news release from police identified the man who is being sought as a “person of interest.” The release says the man may be driving a pickup truck.

Police didn’t immediately return a phone call from The Associated Press seeking comment.
