Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at the First Presbyterian Church in Warrensburg with the Rev. Heather Jepsen officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service time Wednesday at the church.

Jacob was born Sept. 10, 1998, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Aaron and Erica (Simpson) Shaffer.

Jacob was in the freshman class at Warrensburg High School. He was a wonderfully talented young man. Jacob loved to play the piano, to draw, and to swim. An intelligent youth and an honor roll student, Jacob loved to learn and excelled in language and science. A real people person, Jacob was charming and friendly. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, from vacations at the beach to just hanging out. Jacob loved life. Jacob was a member of many organizations, including being a Life Scout and a member of Boy Scout Troop 404, Model U.N., Science Olympiad, Warrensburg Piranhas swim team, Warrensburg track team, and the Warrensburg wrestling team.

Jacob is survived by his parents, Aaron and Erica Shaffer; his sister, Hannah, and his brother, Benjamin, all of Warrensburg. He is also survived by his grandparents, Paul and Charlotte Shaffer of Warrensburg; Jeneane and Jim Diffenderfer of Perry, Missouri; and Donald and Robin Simpson of Paris, Missouri. He is also survived by great-grandparents Lois Atteberry of Ozark, Missouri; and Clair Elsberry of Jefferson City, Missouri.

Memorial contributions are suggested for the Warrensburg High School Swim Team and the Warrensburg High School Model U.N. Program and can be left in care of Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
