Marvin Gene Warner, 68, of Centerview, Missouri, died Thursday, Feb. 11, at his home.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg. A private interment will follow at a later date in Oak Grove Community Church Cemetery north of Warrensburg.

Marvin was born Aug. 1, 1947, the son of Burney and Martha (Hostin) Warner in Sedalia, Missouri.

In 1965, Marvin graduated from Knob Noster High School where he was active in band.

On May 16, 1970, he and Sandra K. Owings were united in marriage in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Marvin worked in the service and parts departments at Warnick Dodge, Jerry Talley Ford, Lenger Chevrolet, and Lotspeich Motors. He later owned and operated Owings Farms, Inc. for many years with his brother-in-law, Chuck Owings.

Marvin attended the First Baptist Church of Knob Noster, was a member of the Johnson County Cattlemen’s Association, and was a 4-H Livestock Leader.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Warner, of Centerview, and Brett Warner and wife, Crystal, of Centerview; two grandsons, Caleb and Levi Warner; a brother, Derrel Warner and wife, Sharon, of Farmington, Minnesota; a sister, Carmen Hankammer and husband, Phillip, of Bolivar, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Chuck Owings and wife, Pam, of Centerview; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Summit Christian Academy and can be left in care of the funeral home.
