Judy Ann (Jones) Austin

Judy Ann (Jones) Austin, 70, of Elm Springs, Mo., died Friday, April 4, at her home surrounded by family.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Elm Springs Baptist Church, 570 NW 1601 Road in Kingsville, Mo.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1944, in Centerview, Mo., the daughter of Carl Clifford Jones and Viva Grace (Slack) Jones. She was raised north of Holden, Mo., and graduated from Holden High School. She married William Vaughn Austin on Sept. 7, 1963, in Elm Springs where they built their home and raised three children.

Judy’s career was primarily in the banking industry, in which she worked for 40 years. She retired in 2010 from the Bank of Holden and she continued to work part time at F&C Bank. She was a member of the Elm Springs Baptist Church and a member of the Holden VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Judy enjoyed crafting, gardening and playing bingo with friends. However, she received the most enjoyment laughing and playing with her granddaughter Kyndal Austin and spending time with her family and friends.

Judy is survived by her three children: her oldest son, Lenny Austin and his wife, Jo, of Holden; her daughter, Lisa (Austin) Hammond and husband, Roland Hammond, of Holden; youngest son, William Austin and fiancé, Shelby Missy Polen, of Pittsville, Mo.; granddaughter, Kyndal; a sister, Betty Garrett, of Oak Grove, Mo.; two brothers, Gary Jones and wife, Myrtle, of Holden; and Jack Jones and wife, Shirley of Arlington, of Texas; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1988; both parents and her sister, Donna Sue (Jones) Borer.
