Norman Ray Patrick, 81, died at his home on Tuesday, July 10.

A celebration of life memorial service was held Saturday, July 14, at Northside Christian Church, with Pastor Sid Tiller officiating.

A private family burial will take place at Liberty Baptist Cemetery at a later date.

He was born March 30, 1937, in Independence, Missouri, the youngest of 13 children to Delbert and Iva (Westmoreland) Patrick. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in the class of 1956. He attended Central Missouri State University. There, he met Minnie Lee Cobb and they married on Sept. 9, 1960.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He returned home and worked at Allis-Chalmers in Independence, then worked for Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. He retired from there in 1992.

Norman enjoyed spending time with his family. He and Minnie had the opportunity to travel the world and spent many winters in South Padre Island, Texas. One of his favorite sayings was, “You don’t go on vacation to save money.”

He also enjoyed working in the yard and garden, and often tended to his succulent collection. Norman will be remembered as the kindest, most gentle man with the biggest heart. He was loved very much and will be dearly missed.

Norman is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Minnie Lee Patrick; son, Scott William Patrick and wife Tonya; granddaughter, Morgan Treloar and husband Shaun; great-granddaughter, Lillie Mae Treloar; and many nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, 12 brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Warrensburg Wheels Car Club, which supports many local charitable organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Angel Tree, Johnson County Adult Literacy, the Food Pantry and the Warrensburg Senior Center.
