The smell of coffee and baked goods filled the tiny Tranquility Shop as open mic night began Thursday, Oct. 1, in downtown Warrensburg.

Open mic night is a time for people to come together and publicly share their creative works, such as poetry, original songs and short stories. More than 20 locals gathered for open mic, filling most of the seats in the close-quartered venue, which offered a familiar feel and relaxed atmosphere.
