Repertory Theatre brings ‘Wiley and the Hairy Man’ to West-Central Missouri

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.)  – Central Missouri Repertory Theatre will present ‘Wiley and the Hairy Man’ by Suzan Zeder this summer at numerous locations during the month of June, according to a press release.

‘Wiley and the Hairy Man’ will be on tour presenting free, public performances at several sites in west-central Missouri: June 6 at Legacy Park Amphitheatre, Lee’s Summit; June 7 at Richmond; June 8 at Camp Wonderland, Lake of the Ozarks; June 13 at the Lex Center, Lexington; June 14 in Carrollton; June 15, location to be determined; and June 16 in Marshall.  All performances start at 10 a.m. with the exceptions of additional performances on June 6 at 1 p.m.; June 8 at 11 a.m., and June 16 at 1 p.m.

‘Wiley and the Hairy Man’ is a tale of a boy and his worst fears in a swamp, that Wiley eventually overcomes.  Set deep within the mysterious Tombigbee Swamp,  ‘Wiley and the Hairy Man’ centers around a young, fatherless boy, his conjure-woman mother, his faithful dog, and the Hairy Man who haunts Wiley’s days and dreams. Through rhythm and rhyme, a chorus creates the mystery of the swamp and a duel of wits, Wiley learns to rely upon his own resources and conquers two villains: the Hairy Man and his own fear. ‘Wiley and the Hairy Man’ is directed by BSE Speech and Theatre student, Jordan Malone.

‘Wiley and the Hairy Man’, sponsored through the support of the Wetzel Family Foundation marks the 35th season of CMR bringing live children’s theatre productions to West-Central Missouri.
