Women’s right to vote lecture Sept. 19

UCM will be hosting Organization of American Historians Distinguished Lecturer and Ohio State University professor emerita Susan Hartmann to present her lecture “What Women Had to Do to Win the Vote” at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Union 236.

Hartmann’s lecture is presented in part by Missouri Humanities Council, American Democracy Project and the UCM History Program to mark Constitution Week Sept. 17-23. This lecture is part of the History Department’s Centennial of Women’s Suffrage Speaker and Event Series, which began in 2016 and will continue through 2020. They hope to raise awareness of the long struggle for women’s right to vote and encourage students to ask questions about the role of gender in American democracy and politics. This event is free to attend.
